Qualifications & Experience

Diploma of Radiography (Otago); BA (Sociology and Economics); BSW (Honours); Post Grad Dip Adolescent and Child Psychology (Melbourne University).

I was born in Dunedin. I started work as a radiographer, specializing in emergency work and then with children in Toronto. I completed a Bachelor of Sociology and Economics at the University at Canberra and was employed as a career public servant in the Public Service. I then completed a postgraduate degree in Social Work at La Trobe University (Distinction). My Psychology 1st class Honours major was completed at Melbourne University followed by a Post Graduate Diploma in Adolescent and Child Psychology. My research involved observations of mothers and babies. During these periods I also trained in marital and family therapy and Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy and completed my own therapy to make sure my issues did not impact on my work with patients.

I am a Registered Psychologist in Australia and New Zealand and and a Member of the New Zealand Association of Psychotherapists (NZAP). As such, I am bound by the ethical codes and the professional requirements of the Psychology Board of Aotearoa (New Zealand), bodies established by New Zealand legislation.
